"Dr. Hans-Jakob Schindler, Sr. Director at the Counter Extremism Project says the Hamas attack, which was foiled in Europe last week, was planned before the Oct. 7 attack in Israel. This suggests attacks in Europe and perhaps well beyond may be in the works."

CEP's Daniel Roth writes: "The Doha Forum, which was held on Dec. 10-11, markets itself as a 'global platform for dialogue' at which policymakers discuss global challenges like 'energy transition' and 'vaccine innovation.' But a sizeable chunk of this year’s two-day conference, held in the wake of the Oct. 7 Hamas massacre, concentrated on Qatar’s real passions: defending Hamas and defaming Israel."

"It would have been the first attack by the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas in Europe: four men have been in custody in Germany and the Netherlands since Thursday; the federal prosecutor's office in Karlsruhe accuses them of looking for weapons that were ready for possible attacks on Jewish institutions in Europe should be . Does Germany have to expect further attack plans in the future? The extremism expert Dr. Hans-Jakob Schindler from the transatlantic think tank “Counter Extremism Project” has long been warning about possible risks."

CEP Advisor Alan Goldsmith writes: "The UN Women organization calls itself a 'global champion for women and girls' but has failed in its response to the countless acts of violence—including sexual violence— committed by Hamas against women and girls on October 7. The US must demand UN Women redress this scandal — or face consequences."

"Hezbollah, just like Hamas, is backed by Israel's arch-rival Iran and is committed to the destruction of Israel. The think tank Counter Extremism Project (CEP) says, 'In February 1985, Hezbollah formally emerged and issued its manifesto. Hezbollah pledged loyalty to Khomeini [Iran's Supreme Leader], demanded the expulsion of foreign forces (i.e., Israel, France, and the U.S.) from Lebanon, called for Israel's destruction, and called for the creation of an Islamic state in Lebanon. As an Iranian proxy, Hezbollah's perceived threat environment is almost identical to Iran’s—Tehran’s enemies are Hezbollah’s enemies. Like Iran, Hezbollah considers the U.S. and Israel to be its chief foes.'"

"The threats - then as now - always have to be understood on two levels, explains Middle East and terrorism expert Hans-Jakob Schindler from the Counter Extremism Project (CEP). On the one hand, it is a clear message to those behind the Hamas attacks that they should no longer be secure in their lives, no matter where in the world they are. On the other hand, the Israeli government's statements are also reassurance for its own population..."

“…However, according to the senior director at the international Counter Extremism Project, only some fighters have given up so far. There is probably an understanding among them that 'things will not end well for them.' Not everyone is prepared to die as a martyr. But Schindler warns against interpreting this too broadly as the end of Hamas. 'The conflict is not yet over. There are still enough fighters who do not surrender.'"

CEP Senior Director Dr. Hans-Jakob Schindler interviewed: "This is an extraordinary, difficult endeavor because there is this still functioning underground system in particular in the southern half of Gaza. But Sinwar really is the key leader to get here. He was, from the very beginning, part of setting up the terrorist structure of Hamas from 1988 onwards. He was also the founder of the Gaza Hamas intelligence organization that hunts what they call collaborators, those who collaborate with Israel, and executes with them."
