CEP Webinar: 30 Years Of Western Jihad – A Discussion With Jytte Klausen

(New York, N.Y. / London) – Ahead of the 21st anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the Counter Extremism Project (CEP) invites you to attend our upcoming webinar with Professor Jytte Klausen, curator of the Western Jihadism Project at Brandeis University and author of Western Jihadism: A Thirty Year History.

Professor Klausen will join CEP London-based advisor Liam Duffy to discuss her research into the Western Jihadist project, which is a database designed to survey al-Qaeda inspired terrorist offenders in Europe, as well the West’s experiences with jihad before and after the 9/11 attacks.

Jytte Klausen is the Lawrence A. Wien Professor of International Cooperation Studies at Brandeis University and a Harvard University affiliate in the Centre for European Studies. She is author of the numerous books covering immigrant integration, the European welfare state and social inclusion, as well as having established the Western Jihadism Project.

Liam Duffy, CEP Advisor. Liam is a regular contributor for UnHerd and has written for The Spectator, The Times Educational Supplement, The Daily Express, The Jewish Chronicle, and CapX on extremism. He authored CEP’s recent report, Gradualists to Jihadists: Islamist Narratives in the West.

Fact:

On January 23, 2019, two car bombs exploded outside of a mosque in Benghazi, Libya, killing 41 people and injuring 80 others. No group claimed responsibility for the blast, but remnants suggested an ISIS affiliate was responsible.
