GLOBSEC and the Counter Extremism Project (CEP) invite you to join us for a webinar to launch the second report on the Muslim Brotherhood’s activities in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), which focuses on three case studies.
Muslim Brotherhood Activities in the Czech Republic, Poland, and Serbia
Wednesday, September 23, 2020
8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. ET / 14:00 - 15:30 CEST
During the past 30 years since the end of the communist regime and the opening of borders, Islamic groups in CEE were able to connect to the outside world and set up organizational structures, usually centred on student communities. Some have become part of institutions linked to the Muslim Brotherhood such as the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe (FIOE) or the Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organizations (FEMYSO).
Supported by CEP, GLOBSEC has begun mapping the Brotherhood’s efforts in a selection of countries in the region. After publishing the first report, which outlined the methodology developed this mapping exercise, we are presenting the second report, outlining the research conducted in the Czech Republic, Poland, and Serbia, at this webinar.
Welcome: David Ibsen, Executive Director, CEP
Opening: Martin Klus, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic
Presenter: Viktor Szucs, Research Fellow, GLOBSEC
Discussant: Prof. Lyubov Mincheva, Executive Director, University of Sofia

Following the presentations, participants will have the opportunity to discuss the issues raised during the event with the speakers.
