Between July and November 2020, CEP Germany, commissioned by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, analyzed the violent right-wing extremist and terrorist milieus in a range of European countries and the United States, focusing on their developing transnational connections and violent actions. During this webinar, CEP Germany presented the findings of its report and discussed the current threat landscape and potential responses with Jacob Aasland Ravndal, research fellow at the Center for Research on Extremism (C-REX) at the University of Oslo. C-REX documents and analyzes right-wing extremist and terrorist movements in Europe and the violence emanating from them.

Fact:

On January 23, 2019, two car bombs exploded outside of a mosque in Benghazi, Libya, killing 41 people and injuring 80 others. No group claimed responsibility for the blast, but remnants suggested an ISIS affiliate was responsible.
